Founded in 1923, Schmohl AG is one of the longest-standing and most renowned car garages in the Zurich area.
Today, the venerable company based in Glattpark Zurich, near the airport, is known far beyond the national borders and has been regarded as an outstanding address for “Luxury & Performance” in the automotive world for decades. Then as now, Schmohl AG makes automotive dreams come true.

OUR FASCINATING HISTORY
1923
Foundation
Schmohl AG, today one of the longest-standing car garages in Zurich, is founded by Julius Schmohl, who took over the Progress Garage and the “Steyer” representation in Zurich-Brunau. Later, the American car make “Nash” was added.
1935
Zurich-Seefeld
The company relocates to Mühlebachstrasse in Zurich-Seefeld.
1937
The next generation
After the passing of Julius Schmohl, his son Georges and his wife Emmy Schmohl-Müller take over the company.
1950
Rolls-Royce and Bentley
Since that year, the company has been the official representative for Rolls-Royce and Bentley, two car makes that have enjoyed an unblemished worldwide reputation for decades.
1989
Change of ownership
The long-time employee of Schmohl AG Alois Elsener and his wife Evelyne take over the company from Emmy Schmohl.
1999
Kamps Group joins the company
The Elseners sell the company to the Kamps Group. At that time, Kamps Group, under the leadership of Gerd Kamps, is one of the largest private VW, Audi and Porsche dealerships in Germany (16 dealerships).
2004
Relocation & Lamborghini
Relocation to the new premises in Glattpark near Zurich Airport and at the same time takeover of the official representation of Lamborghini sports cars for the whole of German-speaking Switzerland.
2005
Bugatti
Grand opening ceremony with the announcement of the representation of the Bugatti brand for Switzerland.
2011
McLaren Pavilion
Expansion of the brand portfolio at the Zurich location in Switzerland by another brand, namely McLaren. Opening of the new McLaren Pavilion.
2013
Schmohl Classic
Relocation to the new premises of Schmohl Classic – Factory 1923.
2016
New Brand Worlds
After 3 months of renovation works, the main building of Schmohl AG has a shiny new look. The bright and modern ambience, dominated by fine woods, presents our exclusive brands in their most beautiful form.
2019
Opening of new After-Sales premises in the annexe
With the purchase of an additional area of 2,300 square metres, the workshop and warehouse are given a new shiny look with more generous space for our exclusive cars and spare parts.
2020
Conversion of workshop and U1 in the main building
The existing workshop premises in the main building are extended and re-equipped.
2021
Opening of Schmohl AG Exclusive Cars Weinfelden
With “Schmohl AG – Exclusive Cars Weinfelden”, Schmohl AG opened an external showroom in Eastern Switzerland at EXCEPTIS / Plan Werke AG. EXCEPTIS is a competence centre for exclusive living and high-quality interior fittings. Our partners present fascinating ideas for noble kitchens, first-class bathrooms and refined living on an area of around 2,500 m2; we present our luxurious cars. On site, you will experience the symbiosis of the fascinating topics of automobiles and living as an exhibition of lifestyle in a new dimension.
2022
Formation of Kamps Switzerland AG and Schmohl Exclusive Cars AG
The Classic Cars business division was repositioned and operated under the new company Schmohl Exclusive Cars AG. This is placed under the leadership of the newly established company Kamps Switzerland AG, together with Schmohl AG. With the formation of Kamps Switzerland AG, Christoph Haas assumes the role of Group CEO. Roderick Pike takes on the position of Managing Director of Schmohl AG.
2023
Renovation of Rolls-Royce Showroom
The completely reimagined Rolls-Royce showroom in the main building reopens after four months of renovation.
